ARTICLE I.  IN GENERAL

Sec. 16-1.  Purpose.
The purpose of this chapter is to:
(1)     Promote the health, safety, comfort, convenience and general welfare of the inhabitants of the village by regulating and controlling the division of land;
(2)     Establish standards and procedures for regulating and controlling the division of land pursuant to the statutes of the state;

ARTICLE II.  LOST, UNCLAIMED OR ABANDONED PROPERTY

Sec. 18-31.  Lost property.
Lost property shall be stored and disposed of by the village in accordance with the provisions of Public Act No. 273 of 1987 (MCL 434.21 et seq.), except that no employee of the village shall be eligible to acquire any property right in any lost property by reason of having found any such property.

Sec. 18-32.  Stolen or abandoned property.
Stolen or abandoned property shall be stored and disposed of by the village in accordance with the provisions of Public Act No. 214 of 1979 (MCL 434.181 et seq.).

Sec. 18-33.  Sale of lost, stolen or abandoned property.
Whenever lost, stolen or abandoned property is permitted or required to be sold by the village as set forth in sections 18-31 and 18-32, such sale may be conducted by the department of public safety or may, in the discretion of the director of the department of public safety, be conducted by employees of another municipality in Wayne County or Macomb County, acting as consignee of the village, in the course of such municipality's own public sale of lost, stolen or abandoned property.
