About the Grosse Pointe Shores Municipal Court

Grosse Pointe Shores still retains one of the six surviving Municipal Courts in the State of Michigan. The appointed Judge hears local ordinance violations, traffic and criminal violations, civil suits, arraignments and examinations on Circuit Court felonies.

Court Location

The courtroom for Grosse Pointe Shores is located on the first floor of the Village of Grosse Pointe Shores Offices, 795 Lake Shore Road.
(At the corner of Lake Shore Rd. and Vernier Rd. - Exit I-94 at exit 225[Verier/Old 8 Mile] and proceed east on Vernier Rd. until Lake Shore Rd. Court building is located on the Northwest corner.)

About Judge Pierce

  • Elected Municipal Judge for Grosse Pointe Woods in 1991
  • Re-elected in Grosse Pointe Woods in 1995, 1999 & 2003
  • Municipal Judge for Grosse Pointe Shores since 1994
  • Juris Doctor, with honors, from Detroit College of Law, 1979.
  • Graduate of University of Michigan, with honors, 1975.
  • Married 19 years to Raymond Andary, with 3 children.
  • Continuous resident of Grosse Pointe Woods for 15 years

In addition, Judge Pierce has decided to address certian social issues involving our youth engaging in risk-taking behavior (drinking, etc.). Judge Pierce has initiated the "Critical Life Choices" program at Grosse Pointe North High School to educate teens on the consequences of risk-taking behavior.
